Playing with Conviction

Many players do not play with conviction at the poker table. They check when they should bet; they call when they should raise. Poker is about making decisions and having the willingness to back your judgement. You should have the courage of your convictions and see your decisions through.

Why is raising better than only calling, also known as “limping”?

  • It puts pressure on your opponents to make decisions.
  • It gives opponents the option to fold, increasing your chance of winning the pot without a showdown.
