There are many styles of play in poker and different styles suit different players. The safest and one of the most profitable styles for a beginner to learn is “tight-aggressive”.

Tight means being careful over your hand selection and only playing the strongest starting cards. Aggressive means betting more often than checking or calling, especially when you have made a powerful hand.
